Agora Brazilian Steak House

Located in Irvine, California, Agora is an upscale Brazilian Steak House. If you haven't been to a Brazilian Steak House before, you are in for a real treat. Agora has a set menu, so you actually don't order the main course. Once you get seated, you will find basket of a Brazilian cheese bread and fried bananas on your table. Love the Brazilian cheese bread! Seriously yummy stuff. The bread was warm, the cheesy filling was chewy with great texture. I could eat 10 of them in one setting, but I highly suggest not filling up your stomach with just bread, I recommend trying one and save room for other delicious items the place offers. I think the friend banana is just alright. Nothing special, but DD thought it was very tasty. She ended up eating the entire fried banana all by herself. The salad and the hot food bar offers a selection of great sides you can enjoy while you wait for the meats to arrive at your table. My favorites are the black beans, the garlic rice and the clams with olive oil and white wine. Servers come around to the tables to give you the meat of your choice. There's a lot of different things to choose from. You can try them all if you like. My favorite is the filet mignon wrapped in bacon . Soooo good!

Agora has a set price, so it's sort of like an expensive all you can eat buffet (though drinks and desserts are extra). For dinner, it costs $41 per adult and $25 per child.

During dessert time, DH got Hennessy Cognac. This is what $9 worth of Cognac looks like.... This is really what it looks like when it arrives at our table.

Apparently it was very smooth -- at least that's what I was told.
Tiramisu
DD got strawberry gelato. It's made with fresh strawberries and tasted heavenly.
I got passion fruit mousse. It was good, but I thought DD's dessert tasted better.
The steak house also offers flan for dessert (my father in law ordered one and I tried a little of it). I must say that it was really fantastic. I am known for being a flan snob. I have never liked any flan I tried at any restaurant -- this is because I actually make my own flans from scratch and it literally takes me 4 hours to make 1 flan. I take a lot of pride in the flan I make. I never had anything flan that comes close to what I make. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the flan at Agora was just as good what the flan I slaved 4 hours in the kitchen making. So, if you go to Agora's and you have room for dessert, you should try their flan for sure!

The place is expensive so we will not be going there regularly. We will probably wait until next year to try it again. I do think that it is worth going if it is in your budget. On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the best), I give Agora 5 yummy cupcakes. The food is amazing and the service is fantastic. You just need to make sure there is enough money in your wallet to cover the bill!
