I love my Silhouette SD. If you do not know what a Silhouette SD is, you are in a for real treat. The Silhouette SD is an electronic cutting tool that connects to your computer allowing you to cut fonts and images in cardstock, vinyl, heat transfer material, etc. Why is it so awesome? Well, instead of buying die cuts every time you want a new design, you can buy the design right off the Silhouette website for as little as 99 cents each. I love doing crafts and before having DD, I used to scrap book all the time -- it was a hobby that I invested a lot of money into. I had all sorts of scrap booking tools but every time I had to pay $20 to $50 for a die cut, it was hard to justify it. Then I got to try the Silhouette SD. I played with it so much that I felt like a little kid again. It has made crafting more fun and exciting for me for sure!

In addition to cut out shapes for scrap booking, you can also use the machine to create heat transfers and vinyl arts/ saying. To set up the machine, I simply installed the software that came with it. With my windows XP, it took only a couple of minutes to downloaded and installed the software. The software came with 50 pre-selected images you can use, but I ended up buying more images to make some fun stuff for my family. After downloading the software, I hooked up the Silhouette SD to my laptop. I noticed that this compact machine does not take up much space at all.

If you have been following my blog, you probably noticed how much I love vinyl arts/sayings. I love using them to decorate my home. Sometimes I have something in mind and I would have to either search for a long time to find exactly what I want or I would ended up not being able to find it at all. With the Silhouette SD, I am now able to create exactly what I want. I no longer have to shop and wait for the product to be delivered to my home, I could create it in a matter of minutes.

These are some photos of what I made with my Silhouette SD. Yes, I have been busy with some fun projects!

I always liked the little stick figures as decals on cars. I saw them at a booth inside of our local mall and the person was charging $5 per stick figure decal. I thought they were over priced. Using the premium vinyl (which can be used for outdoor decals and for windows & glass), I made my own little stick figures for my car. I was able to adjust the images to the size I want and look at how great they turned out. Can you guess what I am going to be making for my friends :)?

This is what I made for DD's bedroom door. I bought the image of a princess kissing a frog for only 99 cents and I was able to create this vinyl art for her door. Of course, you could use the image over and over again, once you have the design, you can use it to create whatever you like, so I will probably end up using the image to make some t shirts for her as well.

I made this for baby G's bedroom door.

Using the same owl image, I cut out the design on a heat transfer with the Silhouette SD and made this onesie for the baby.

And this robot one piece outfit for the baby as well.

I also bought a dinosaur image and made this personalized shirt for DD. The heart design you see is a pre selected image that came with the machine.

Another shirt I made using my awesome Silhouette SD. The clothes I made and the vinyl wall decals I created looked very professional. They looked like I spent a lot of money on the products. I purchased the plain shirts for DD for $3 each at Target and created some personalized shirts for her that you could not find anywhere else. Now, if you are concerned about the quality of the vinyl or the heat transfer, don't be. I washed DD's shirts and forgot to turn them inside out. I thought for sure that the heat transfer images would come right off. Much to my surprised, they stayed on, looking as good as new. The adhesive vinyl is also great quality as well.
