Beco Baby Carrier Gemini Carrier Review & Giveaway -- ENDED

Some of you already know that my baby carrier of choice is made by Beco Baby. After trying so many baby carriers, I have to say that my Beco Baby Butterfly 2 carrier is my favorite. So, when I was offered the chance to review the brand new Beco Baby Gemini a few months ago, you can imagine how excited I was.

One of the things a lot of my friends commented on was how the Gemini looks just like Butterfly 2. I must admit that they do look very similar, but once I pointed out the new design and the differences, the moms were excited by the the new features Gemini offers. If you already own the Butterfly 2, you know that the baby carrier allows you to carry your child in the front carry and back carry position. Butterfly 2 also comes with a removable head rest and a removable infant insert. With the Gemini, there is no removable headrest or infant insert. The Gemini is a one piece carrier without any inserts. There is still a headrest, but the headrest can be snapped down if your baby already has head and neck. Putting baby E on my back was a bit tricky (please to the Gemini instruction on the Beco Baby website on how to do this). She fussed for a bit while I was trying to get her in it, but once everything was secured, she was completely content!

In addition to being back to do front and back carrying like Butterfly 2, the Gemini also allows you to do front carrying while your child is facing forward and you can also do hip carrying. I preferred front and back carrying positions. I tried the hip carrying position and decided that it was not for me, but I do know other moms who prefer this carrying position so it is nice to know that Gemini baby carrier does allow that option.

The reason why the front facing carrying position is now possible with the Gemini carrier is because Beco Baby made a minor change in the design. With the Gemini, there are 2 snaps on the bottom of the carrier that allows you to narrow the base and thus making it very comfortable for the your child to be in that position. When I tried it with baby E, she really liked the narrow base.

Even though the Gemini carrier is a little different from Butterfly 2, it still has some of the features I love from Butterfly 2. First of all, it is incredibly comfortable to wear. I wore baby E in the Gemini and she seemed weightless to me (and I am sure she is not weightless, lol). I love that the straps are super comfortable. They are wide enough to provide you with that extra comfort so that nothing is digging into your skin, but it is not extra bulky either. Second, I love that the Gemini still has the buckle across the chest for back carrying position -- making me feel extra secure about carrying the baby on my back. Fourth, I love that soft organic fabric the company uses to create the baby carriers and lets not forget the cute prints you can choose from too. Last but not least, I love that the Gemini still uses the same buckles that Butterfly 2 uses. The buckles are really secure and they do require 2 hands to unbuckle but the plus side to that is you don't have to worry about the buckles that's helping your baby stay in the carrier failing on you.

All in all, I was impressed by the new Beco Baby Gemini. Would I give up my Butterfly 2? Probably not, I actually like the removable infant insert and the removable head rest on it as well. I will be using both carriers because one can not have enough Beco Baby carriers!
