sphero 2.0 Review

*I received  a free product for review purpose. I did not receive any compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are not always positive, but they are my personal and honest opinions. Other people's views and experiences with the show might be different from mine.

My kids are enjoying their summers off. Since they are out of school, they have been busy with lots of fun activities like going to the local lake, swimming in the pool, or having playdates with friends so far. You would think that since they have so many things scheduled on their social calendar, they would be content. Sadly, if this mommy needs a break, her kids would start complaining about how bored they are. Well, sphero 2.0 arrived to our house at a great time. We had some pressing issues happening in our household. My husband and myself had our plates full and we simply could not entertained our kids entertained while we were busy making phone calls to insurance companies or addressing some issues that we needed to deal with right away. Frankly, the kids are starting to get tired of playing on their tablets. So, the sphero 2.0 was a fun new toy for them to check out.
We downloaded the appropriate apps for sphero 2.0 on all of our tablets. Our family of 4 actually own 6 tablets (I know, it's nuts). Once we downloaded the apps, we handed the sphero 2.0 to our 8 year  old daughter first. She played through a few games, She loved Draw & Drive app the most. When her little brother saw how much she was enjoying playing with this new toy, he wanted in on the action. He liked Sharky, but he was definitely not very good at playing it.

As a family, we tried ColorGrab and SpaceParty! and we thought that the SpaceParty was a lot of fun. Although we could have played the game without the sphero, but we thought that using it made it more entertaining. The only problem with us using it as for family game night is that our 3 year isn't ready to play most of the games, so there was a lot of frustration on his part. On the other hand, when our daughter had her friends over for a sleepover, she played some games using the sphero with her friends, and the girls just loved it.

After playing and testing out sphero for a few days, the kids are in love with their new toy. I will have to admit that there was some fighting between my kids on who should be able to play first and if every person got to play with it as long as the other person does. To make things easier on us, we have allowed our little guy to practice/play on his own (right before he goes to bed) so that he will be ready for our next family game night.
Retailing at $129.99, it might sound pricey at first. However, the apps are free and my kids have enjoyed playing with every app we downloaded for the sphero so far. Considering how much fun they have had with it and how it is a great addition to our family fun night, I think it is worth the retail price if your family will use it as much as we do.
