Shadow on the Mesa DVD Review

*I received a free DVD for review purpose. I did not receive any other form of compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are not always positive, but they are my personal and honest opinions. Other people's views and experiences with the product or products might be different from mine.

Witness the gripping story of revenge and the power of family when Hallmark Movie Channel original, Shadow On The Mesa, debuts on DVD December 17 from Cinedigm and Sonar Entertainment.  Starring Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”), Greg Evigan (“Touched By An Angel”), Gail O’Grady (“NYPD Blue”), Meredith Baxter (“Family Ties”) and Wes Brown (“True Blood”), Shadow On The Mesa broke Hallmark Movie Channel ratings records to become the second highest-rated and second most watched original movie premiere ever among households and total viewers.

When Wes Rawlins (Wes Brown), one of the West’s most proficient bounty hunters, decides to avenge his mother’s death, he sets his sights on his estranged father, Ray Eastman (Kevin Sorbo). When he tracks Eastman down, he ends up becoming embroiled in a battle over his homestead and finds himself drawing closer to the father he never knew.

An enthralling Old West tale of bravery, bullets and blood bonds, Shadow On The Mesa will be available on DVD for the suggested retail price of $14.93.

Our Review:
My husband grew up watching cow boy movies with his father. They have fond memories of watching some great classics together. Now that my daughter is a bit older, my father in law has been wanting to see if DD would be interested in cow boy movies yet. Frankly, I think she is a little too young to appreciate the complex story in Shadow on the Mesa. I have always been a fan of Kevin Sorbo, so I thought it would be fun to check out this movie with her. I thought the movie was entertaining but just as I have suspected, DD was too young for it. She lost interest 10 minutes into it. I love that in these type of cow boy movies, the good guys always win at the end and there is a clear cut between right and wrong. I think we will keep this DVD and try to watch it with DD again in a couple of years, she will be able to appreciate it by then.
