Party Mix Recipe

My sweet friend Terah made me a delicious party mix as a special treat. I loved it so much that I begged her for the recipe. I did change it a bit for my family, but the main component of this party mix is the chex coated with peanut butter which I did not change. I was surprised by how easy party mix was to make! My kids would eat this all day long if I let them.

The ingredients I used were:

* 1 box of 12.8 oz. plain Chex cereal
* 1 cup of creamy peanut butter
* 1 cup of white powder sugar
* 1/2 cup of caramel bits
* 1/2 cup of peanut butter M&M's
* 1 cup of small salted pretzels

First pour out the entire box of Chex into a large mixing bowl. Then mix in 1 cup of peanut butter using a large wooden spoon. Make sure that the all of the Chex is evenly coated with the peanut butter. This step took me about 10 minutes. Afterwards, transfer the Chex into a gallon-size zip lock bag. Pour 1 cup of powder sugar into it and then begin tossing the Chex until everything is coated in a fine coat of powder sugar -- this should only take a couple of minutes. In another large mixing bowl, pour the Chex out and mix in the caramel bits, peanut butter M&M's and small salted pretzels.

When you are all done,  you could enjoy them right away or store in an air-tight container until they are ready to be consumed.

For holiday theme party mixes, I recommend picking up the special colored M&M (like red & green for Christmas). Instead of using Caramel bites, you could also use chocolate chips or butterscotch chips.
