2013 Barbie Dreamhouse Review

*I received a free product and compensation from the company for review purposes.  All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are not always positive, but they are my personal and honest opinions. Other people's views and experiences with the product or products might be different from mine.
This summer, Barbie doll’s newly renovated, three-story Dreamhouse will debut as girls’ new luxury toy home. Every girl’s dream, the new house features six fab rooms and luxe details that any doll will appreciate, including pink “stainless steel” appliances, and not one — but two elevators! The house “expands” from the center to reveal the main elevator giving Barbie doll’s friends and family spacious living areas. A second elevator transports Barbie doll’s outfits between her favorite room in the house — her ultimate closet — and the bathroom for quick outfit changes.

Fully furnished and decorated in signature Barbie Pink, the doll-tastic features of the Dreamhouse include:

• Two Working Pull-String Elevators
• Six Deluxe Rooms
• Lights and Sounds Throughout the House
• Walk-In Closet
• Pink “Stainless Steel” Appliances
• Canopy Bed — Pulls Out to Reveal a Trundle Bed
• Television that “Flips” Channels
• Working Doorbell
• Balcony for Sunny Malibu Days
• 3-½+ Feet Tall
• 50+ Pieces

DD was lucky enough to have received the newly designed 2013 Barbie Dreamhouse to review. When she was a toddler, she received a smaller doll house as a gift. She played with it constantly but as she got older, she lost interest in the doll house. Her love for Barbie never faded though, she plays with her Barbie dolls every chance she gets. One of her favorite activities when her best friend Catherine comes over for a sleepover is playing Barbie with her.  Sometimes she will even ask her 2 year old little brother to play Barbie with her (but as you could imagine, 2 year old little boys don't make great Barbie playmates).

It took my husband a couple of hours to put the Dreamhouse together for DD. She waited patiently by her daddy as he built the house for her. Then after he was done, he realized that he had made a huge mistake. He built the Dreamhouse in the kids' playroom, but DD wanted it in her bedroom. The Dreamhouse was so large that my husband had a hard time moving it upstairs into DD's bedroom. Although the Dreamhouse is not heavy, but because it is so tall and wide, it is awkward moving it around, so I recommend building it when you think you will be keeping it.

Here's DD with her Barbie Dreamhouse to give you an idea just how large this house is!
We love that the Dreamhouse comes with more than 50 pieces of accessories. It's nice to have a playhouse where everything your child would like is already in the box. The only thing that was missing from the house was a Barbie doll. Of course, since we have plenty of Barbie dolls at our house, that is not a problem at all. However, if you are planning on giving a child the 2013 Barbie Dreamhouse as a gift, I think it would be great if you include a Barbie doll too.

DD loves the 2013 Dreamhouse, I don't think there is anything she does not like about it. I asked her if there is a feature she particularly likes, she told me that she thinks that the pink toilet is very cool. She is also a fan of Barbie's walking in closet.

Barbie Dreamhouse has come a long way since I was a little girl. I remembered getting a Dreamhouse of my own when I was DD's age. Sadly, I remembered being deeply disappointed that it did not come with a Barbie doll. I thought that image on the box was very misleading. But, because I grew up poor, getting a Dreamhouse was a already a big deal. As sad as I was that it did not come with a doll, I was very excited about my Barbie Dreamhouse and I played with it all the time. As a matter of fact, I am pretty certain that it is still at my Grandparents' house in Taiwan.

It is wonderful to see my daughter playing with her Dreamhouse like I used to. It is also really sweet to see how much my daughter adores her Barbie dolls. I think it is great that Barbie has really kept up with the changes in time and after all of these years, it is still such a fun toy for little girls to play with.

If you would like to make your little girl's dream come true by picking up the 2013 Barbie Dreamhouse for her now (or for the winter holidays), then please visit Walmart to place your order. The newly renovated Dreamhouse is three-stories, has 6 rooms, two elevators, and unmatched “ocean views” of the Malibu coastline.
