I was introduced to Miyazaki films when I watched My Neighbor Totoro as a young girl. I fell in love with the movie and from that moment on I became an avid collector of all things associated with Studio Ghibli. When I learned that Disney was releasing Studio Ghibli's films in the US, I was really excited. I could not wait to watch this movie again. I was lucky enough to have received a review copy. As soon as it arrived, I watched it with my kids. The basic plot is about two young girls who meet Totoro -- a forest spirit. Two of our favorite parts of the films were when Mei fell asleep on top of Totoro (he looks like a giant stuffed toy so we imagine that he makes a great bed to sleep), and when the kids got to ride the cat bus. My kids were really excited to watch the cat bus open up to let the passengers on and then it flew through the forest so quickly. We love this movie for many reasons. Besides the amazingly beautiful animation, we love that the the young girls learned to love their new home, fell in love that the magic of the forest and then were protected by the forest spirit. It was a very sweet movie that the entire family could enjoy. This blu-ray and DVD combo is a must have for a collector. It includes Scoring of Miyazaki and The Totoro experience, which were really fun to watch.
