*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for MetLife. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
With Mother's Day just days away, we already have a full day schedule. I will be taking DD to Chinese school in the morning and then taking her to the Nixon Library & Museum where she will be performing with her choir group. We will be getting home late in the afternoon, so I will get a chance to relax for a bit before having Mother's Day dinner with my family.
MetLife has created the #SocialBlackout movement, which challenges everyone to log off of social media on Mother’s Day (May 12th) and give Mom the time and attention she deserves! Personally, I love social media. I love that I am able to connect with my family members all over the world through social media. Not only do I get to learn all about what my family members are up to, I am also able to share my kids' accomplishments with them. Furthermore, being connected with other mommy bloggers means that if and when I need tips or advice, it is very easy for me to reach out to them for assistance. With that said, I also feel like sometimes we spend a little too much time online instead of really connecting with our loved ones in person. When DH and I take the kids somewhere, the first thing I do is check us in on facebook. DH is usually reading a book on his iPhone and my kids are playing games on their Kindle Fire's. Although I do limit my kids' screen time, I feel like there is no such thing as too much quality time spent with your family. This Mother's Day, we are going join the MetLife #SocialBlackout movement and put our smart phones, tablets and laptops away. We are going to enjoy each other's company without any interruptions from cyber space. We hope that you will be joining us to show moms everywhere that they deserve our undivided attention. Be sure to RSVP for the #SocialBlackout movement, this will be the one event you will not have to show up for. Wooohoo!
