April 8, 2013
During the school year, my daughter's schedule is fully packed with tons of after school activities. However, during the winter and summer break, we take full advantage of our local Boys & Girls Club. Although we usually have plenty of family activities planned during her breaks, but I know that she really enjoy going there to play and hang out with some of her friends. My husband has great memories of fun times he had there when he was growing up, so I am glad that DD could experience the same thing that her daddy did.
If you haven't been to your local Boys & Girl's Club, now is the time to check it out. It has changed drastically since my husband went there many years ago. The one that my daughter goes to has a nice basketball court for the kids, comfortable chairs and sofas for the kids to sit on, and it even has some computers that the kids could do their homework on. April 7 to 13 is National Boys & Girls Club Week. You are encouraged to "Open the door. Take the tour." You could either take a virtual club tour at greatfutures.org or visit a local club and tour it in person.
The schedule for this year’s celebration includes the following:
• Monday, April 8 - Open the door to education.
• Tuesday, April 9 - Open the door to technology.
• Wednesday, April 10 - Open the door to character and citizenship.
• Thursday, April 11 - Open the door to healthy lifestyles.
• Friday, April 12 - Open the door. Take the tour.
Boys & Girls Club promotes healthy life style, character building, academic learning, leadership and many important social skills our kids need. For more information on how you could support this great program during National Boys & Girls Club week, please visit http://bit.ly/127pDm.
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
