I did not get a chance to see this film when it was released in the theaters, but I am so glad that I was lucky enough to get a copy of the Blu-ray and DVD combo for my review. Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing in this film, it is no wonder why he won Best Actor for the work he did. Set in 1865, the costumes are amazing. As I watched the movie, it was clear that Spielberg paid attention to every little details. I felt like I stepped right into a history book. The movie documents the last 4 months of Lincon's life. I got to see his attempt to end the civil war as well as the dramatic moment where he was murdered. I must admit that even though I knew he was going to die, I just could not bear watch our nation losing someone so great. It was wonderful to see this visionary leader come to life in Spielberg's work. Watching Lincoln has definitely appreciate Presidents' Day that much more. Even if you have seen this movie in the theaters, I would still recommend picking up the Blu-ray and DVD combo. The Blu-ray includes interesting footage that takes you behind the scenes and reveal how the making of this film was possible. I thought that learning about how make up and costumes were put together so that this period film could appear authentic is especially interesting.
