Normally we don't write letters to Santa or have Santa call her. This year, we were lucky enough to received a code to Portable North Pole to try out their service. Their basic personalized video message from Santa is free, but we got the premium version to try out. With it, we were able to download the video & saved on my PC so that we could have a record of it for years to come. To set up the personalized video, I just answered a series of questions (which only took me a few minutes), then I got an email with the link to watch the video online as well as to download. The video itself is 6 minutes long. I love that it is so personalized that it seems very authentic (like it's a real video recording from Santa made just for my daughter). My daughter, as expected, loved the video. She promises to be on her best behavior so that she doesn't let Santa down.
The phone call is also very easy to set up. It lasts about 2 minutes long and my daughter was overjoyed to hear Santa's voice. The only thing I would change about the phone call from Santa is that I wish there was an option to pre-set a date and time instead of having it call your number as soon as you input the information.
After trying Portable North Pole, I would definitely recommend it. I think it's a great service that keeps the magic going. I know that my daughter will stop believing in Santa sooner than I like, but in the mean time, I love being able to surprise her with things like videos, phone calls and letters from Santa.
