A cold sore is a blister that forms on or around the lips and is usually caused by the HSV-1. Most cold sore sufferers aren’t exactly sure when they first encountered the virus because HSV-1 is usually contracted early in childhood. For some suffers, it is triggered by stress and fatigue, and this is definitely true in our household. Both DH and myself suffer from cold sores. It is always brought on by stress for us. For my husband, he works at a high stress job so he gets it though out the year. In contrast, I only get it during the holiday season. Between taking care of the kids, meeting obligations and getting things ready for holiday events, my stress level is multiplied by at least 10 folds. With stress comes the cold sores.
