Chef Boyardee offers Boyardeelicious Recipes

I remember eating a lot of Chef Boyardee during my college years. If I needed a late night snack after hours of studying and the school cafeteria was closed, I would open up a can of  Chef Boyardee Ravioli. I loved Chef Boyardee because not only that I could afford them on my tight college student budget, they were also convenient and taste great as well.

Now that I have a family of my own, I still buy Chef Boyardee products and stock up my pantry with them. After so many years, they are still convenient and tasty. Sometimes when my daughter gets home from school and she wants a large snack, I would heat up Chef Boyardee Ravioli for her. If I need to make dinner quickly, I would make a salad and heat up some Chef Boyardee for my family.

I actually like the taste of  Chef Boyardee, so besides just heating them up I never thought of doing anything else to the pastas. However, when I received a package of supplies full of bowls, baking dishes, chef's hat, aprons and cooking utensils along with some coupons for Chef Boyardee products, I knew it was time to be adventurous and try out some Chef Boyardee recipes.

We had some friends over and decided to make Ravioli Lasagna. This is what the recipe called for:
  • PAM® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 1 cup frozen loose cut leaf spinach
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) Chef Boyardee® Beef Ravioli
  • 1 can (14.5 oz each) Hunt's® Diced Tomatoes, drained well
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup 1% low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Italian blend cheese

Since this was our first time making the dish, we only made a couple of minor adjustments. Because we love spinach, I added 2 cups instead of just 1. I also added 1/2 cup of diced onion and 1/2 cup of red bell pepper to the dish.

We thought the dish turned out really well. Our friends (both adults and kids) all commented on how surprising good the dish was. Personally, I love that even though it tasted like I slaved in the kitchen for hours, the prepping and cooking time was short. It took is less than 15 minutes to put the dish together and the cooking time was only about 30 minutes long. I love with by incorporating Chef Boyardee products, it really cuts down the amount of time I spend in the kitchen cooking instead of spending quality time with my friends and family.
