Almondina Cookies Review & -Rafflecopter- Giveaway -- ENDED

I was contacted by Almondia to review their cookies. I actually haven't heard or seen their cookies before, but I was willing to give their cookies a try.When the package of their products arrive at our home, I put it aside and did not think much of it. Then late one night my husband wanted a snack so he opened up one of the package. He was so surprised by how good it tasted that he handed me one and our daughter also got one of the cookies to try. Well, the rest of it was history. As soon as we discovered how delicious Almondina cookies were, we finished the first package my husband opened within 5 minutes. Our Review:
I went to see "The Help" with a couple of my friends when it came out in the theaters. I thought it was a fantastic movie.  My husband did not get a chance to see while it was out, so it was nice to get the Blu-ray and DVD copy so that we could watch it together. After watching it the second time, I was able to appreciate more of the film than when I watched it the first time. When I saw it in the movie theater, I was focused on the plot and how the story line was moving along. Watching it on Blu-ray made me realized how amazing the casting was. I thought everyone did an excellent job playing her part in the film. There were so many likeable characters in it. The Blu-ray and DVD also offer extra features that you will want to check out even if you have already seen the movie in the theaters. I enjoyed watching the deleted scenes and I thought that "The Making of 'The Help'" was really interesting. This is definitely a Blu-ray and DVD combo worth picking up.

Our Review:
We thought this was such a cute movie to watch and get the kids excited about Christmas. Prep & Landing is a story about 2 little elves saving Christmas. The movie itself is very short (only about 22 minutes long) but it's fill with enough fun and excitement to keep the DD entertained. She loves watching the elves in action. There were plenty of laugh aloud moments in this short movie. This is a movie that's loved by both adults and kids in our house and DD has watched this more times than I can count. Although it only last 22 minutes, it is worth buying and watching over and over again during the holiday season.

Pure Integrity Soy Candles Review & -Rafflecopter- Giveaway

The problem with reviewing candles is that candles pretty much all look the same from outward appearance. You won't really know the quality until you smell and burn one. We use candles all year long, so we go through a lot of them. There are brands that I love and buy from regularly, however there are also ones that I feel that are just not good enough for me to purchase again. After trying the Pure Integrity Soy Candles, I have to say that I am completely in love with it.

The candle I received to review came in a glass jar with a wooden lid on top. The scent I requested was the Victorian Christmas. When I opened the jar, I was blown away by how wonderful it smells. If you can put Christmas in a jar, this is it! I can definitely smell pine, cinnamon and everything else I associate with Christmas.

After burning the candle for a few hours then first day I got it, I thought that it burned very nicely and the scent was very pleasant as well. Sometimes I would really like a scent but after burning the candle I would  get a really bad headache from the smell of it, this was not the case with the Integrity Soy Candles. In addition to the great fragrance, the company make their candles using soy so you are getting candles that's good for  you and for the environment as well. All in all, I truly love the candle I received to review and I don't have a single negative thing to say about it.

One of my favorite thing to do is surprising DD by taking her out for ice cream after I pick her up for school. I don't have a set schedule for it, I just do it when we have free time or want a ice cream treat. When we do want ice cream, we always head over to the Baskin-Robbins by our house. While I like to try different favors every time we visit, DD likes to stick with her favorite favors. If you like Baskin-Robbins' ice cream as much as we do, then you have to try them newest creations: cake bites!

These cake bites come in 4 different yummy favors. They are bite size cakes with ice cream in them. We were giving the chance to try all of the favors and I have to say that even though they are all delicious, my favorite was the chocolate mint. The author would follow-up with another childhood favorite, "The Littlest Snowman," that would be read annually on the “Captain Kangaroo” show.

Our Review: 
As some of you already know, my daughter attend a Christian school. She loves learning about God and the bible at school, but she does not know much about angels. In The Littlest Angel movie, a little boy tries to earn his wings as he tries to resolve problems he counters. This is a story about friendship, faith and good deeds. DD loves learning about Angels and Heaven through the eyes of this adorable little boy. This a heart warming movie that's great for kids.

Walmart Baby Steps

Having a baby is a true blessing. As a mother of two, I know that for many moms, sometimes it is hard to enjoy the baby when he/she is crying and fussing all night long. For me, it was easier with the second baby because I knew exactly what to expect and the things I learned as a first time mom definitely helped the second time around. Some of the best advice I received were, " Taking time out for yourself," "Don't sweat the little things," "Nap when your baby is sleeping," and "The dishes can wait." All of these comments were true but it was hard to take it to heart the first time around. I was driving myself nuts by doing household chores when DD was sleeping. Being sleep deprived for several months, I was not a happy camper and it made enjoying the baby that much more difficult. With baby G, I learned to appreciate the little things in life. I did not stressed myself out by hurrying to finish every task on my to do list. I took the time to watch my baby sleep, to list to his laughter and to treasure every moment. I have realized that my kids will not remember that the dishes were cleaned, the carpets were vacuumed or that the laundries were washed, but they will remembered the times I worked on crafts, played games and watched movies with them. I know that when my kids are grown, I will not look back and think about how great it was that I got all of the house chores done; rather, I will remember all of the precious moments we shared together.

Advent Calendar Craft

I wanted to make an Advent Calendar last year, but I never got around to it. My goal this year was to make one before the first of December. After working on it for 3 days, I finally finished my project. I might make a new one next year, but I think this will work well enough this year.

An Advent Calendar is a special calendar which is used to count or celebrate the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. Most of these calendars come with pockets or windows -- one for each day of December leading up to Christmas Day. One is opened every day during Advent. In many of these calendars, each window opens to reveal an image, a poem, or a portion of a story such as the story of the Nativity of Jesus. More elaborate Advent calendars have a small gift concealed in each window, such as a toy or a chocolate item.

I have seen a lot of Advent Calendars that's filled with chocolate for each day leading up to Christmas. These Calendars are made of cardboard and they are very reasonably priced. I wanted an Advent Calendar for my kids, but not something that's filled with chocolate or candy. I have looked into Advent Calendars that I could use to fill the pockets myself, but they were either too pricey or they did not really meet my needs. I finally decided to make one this year.

It took me 3 days to finish this project. It will probably be faster for you. Between taking care of the kids and cleaning the house, I only worked on the project when I had time (which was only a couple of hours every day). I was able to complete this project for under $20.

You will need:
* Canvas board (I used one that was 15 x 30, I bought this when it as 50% off at Joann's).
* 1/2 yard of fabric to use on the canvas board
* 1/4 yard of contrasting fabric
* 1/4 yard of felt
* Staple gun
* E6000 glue

I started with a plain white canvas board.

I covered it with the 1/2 yard of fabric I bought. I used the staple gun to secure it in the back.

I embroidered numbers 1- 25 on the 1/4 yard of contrasting fabric I bought. I then sewed numbers onto the felt I already cut out. To make the pockets, I traced a small tea cup to get a perfect circle. I then cut 1/3 off it from the top. Then sew the number on the felt. If you don't do embroidery, then you can use another piece of felt (in a different color) and cut out the numbers you need. After you cut out your numbers, use E6000 to glue the numbers onto the pockets.  

I then sew the front of the pockets I made to their backings. If you don't have a sewing machine, simply use the E6000 to glue them together. Make sure you leave the pocket opening open.

Then glue these little pockets/windows onto your canvas. I made #25 (Christmas Day) extra special by adding rhinestones and cute fabrics to it. Needless to say, this is DD's favorite day on the Advent Calendar.

Here's DD with the Advent Calendar I made. She is very excited about using it as soon as December 1st arrives.

As I have mentioned before, I don't want an Advent Calendar that's filled with candy. Instead, I plan on personalized our family Advent Calendar by print out 25 different fun activity we are going to do ( and bible verses we will read together every day). Some of the things I plan on filling up the calendar with are, " Making Christmas ornaments, going to Santa's Workshop, drink hot coco, watching ' It's a Wonderful Life," bake Holiday cookies, " and so forth.

I will be working on my activity list tonight in order to make sure that our activity list is ready on the First of December. I sure hope that our kids will love our new family tradition of daily fun activities leading up to Christmas.

Every Christmas we visit my in laws and spend the night there. Now that the kids are older, we are definitely not considering having a family of 4 sleeping on a queen size bed (especially with DD who turns and kicks all night long).
