In an inspiring story of the bond between animals and humans, a boy named Sawyer discovers an injured dolphin, who is brought to a marine hospital and named Winter. Unfortunately, her injuries cost Winter her tail, without which she may not survive. But with Sawyer's devotion, a marine biologist's (Harry Connick Jr.) and the brilliance of a prosthetist (Morgan Freeman) charged with creating a new tail, Winter may receive a second chance at life.
We received a copy of the Dolphin Tale Blu-ray and DVD combo to review. When it was in the theaters, we did not get a chance to watch it, but we have heard from friends what a wonderful family movie it was. As such, we were excited to check it out. The movie is about a young boy name Sawyer who discovered a dolphin would be be named Winter. Losing its tail following an injury, it was uncertain if the dolphin would be able to survive. After all, it needs its tail in order to swim. With the help of a prosthetic tail, Winter was able to swim. Although the back drop of this story is about the dolphin and how it changed Sawyer's life. It is more importantly about resilience, hope, over coming hardship and love. We really enjoyed watching it as a family. I think when there are so many kids movies out that don't always have positive role models, it is really great to see a movie such as this one.
We would recommend this movie without any hesitation. To buy a copy for yourself, please visit the WBshop.com. It will be available for purchase starting December 20, 2011.
