Have you ever gotten migraines so horrible that you feel like you can't get anything done? I have been there before, and it is definitely not pleasant. As soon as I have one of those terrible migraines, I immediately reach for Excedrin. I probably should take better care of myself and try to figure out what the exact triggers are, but it is hard to find time to do that. If you are in the same boat that I am, then I recommend checking out Excedrin's facebook page. It has a Migraine Diary that you can download so that you try to track what triggers your migraines.

Migraine Tips and Prevention Techniques
There are many different ways to manage migraines. There is no simple solution and every treatment plan should be individualized.
Perhaps the most important tool in tracking migraines is a migraine diary. It is used by doctors to track potential triggers and patterns related to your migraine. It helps you track food you eat when migraines occur, duration of migraines, type of pain, amount of sleep, etc.
Aerobic exercise has been shown to make an appreciable difference in reducing migraines and promoting a general sense of well-being. Even if you walk only 15 to 20 minutes.
Drinking plenty of water will help you keep hydrated and can help prevent the frequency of migraine incidents.
And, when migraine pain does set in, consider finding a quiet place to rest, applying a cool compress to the back of your neck.
Talk with your doctor about an over-the-counter pain reliever like Excedrin® Migraine, which starts to relieve migraine pain in 30 minutes.

So I don't have to go to bed, I sit around with sunglasses and a ball cap on. That may look stupid but at least I can still somewhat function.

...sharing my own tip as I am a sufferer and use Excedrin and only Excedrin because it works... for me! The tip is... either use a bag of frozen peas or gel ice pack, roll in hand towel then place around the back of the neck while lying down and resting. This helps relieve and ease the migraine some.
I like the sunglasses tip. I have chronic migraines. Will have to try that.

watching your diet.. basically go bland and slowly add things back in and figure out your triggers. The minute you feel it coming on, take something. If you can go to a dark room immediately lay down with a bag of frozen peas on your head and rest until it eases.
Watch your caffeine intake, as it can be a migraine trigger.

I learned its good to keep a migraine diary to see what YOUR triggers are as its different with each person.
BTW MAGNUM - the national migraine association has a page of migraine myths and this is one : MYTH: MIGRAINE IS CAUSED BY PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS, SUCH AS STRESS AND DEPRESSION.REALITY: MIGRAINE IS A NEUROLOGICAL DISEASE, NOT A PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDER.
Migraine is a true organic neurological disease
