The company sent DD 2 of their new games to review. The only one was the Splish Splash. It is a very easy game that even a young toddler can enjoy. To play the game, the player would roll the die and then drop the wooden pebble into the pond. Pick up the colorful pieces that splash out. The first person to fill his/her board win. This simple game allows a young child to match colors (you can also say the colors aloud so that your child is learning the name of the colors at the same time) and it also teaches simply physics. For example, if there is a particular color DD wants, she would drop the pebble near it so that it would splash up for her.
The second game DD received to review was Mermaid Beach. This was a game that was love at first sight for DD. Really, you can put mermaids on anything and she will love it, lol. The object of the game is to collect the most shell points. There are different images on the cards and different images have different rules. For example, if you have the seaweed card, then you can use it to add the top card from the beach deck to another player's hand. If you have the sneaker card , you can use it to take another player's seashells back to the ocean. We thought this game was a bit too complex for DD at first, but after playing it a handful of times, DD finally understood it. It is a great game for helping your child develop critical thinking skills (in turns of figuring out a strategy not only to win but making sure the other players aren't able to collect sea shells at the same time).
All in all, we enjoyed playing both games and we thought they were really fun games to play for family nights. To buy the games we received to review and to check out other games offered by the company, please visit the Gamewright website.
Many thank sto Gamewright. The company has generously offered 1 box of Mermaid Beach game as a giveaway prize to one of my lucky readers. This giveaway ends on Oct 3rd, 2011.
