My husband was a fan of Transformers when he was a little kid. He still talks about how him and his friends would collect the figures and play with them as kids. I grew up in Taiwan and since the show did not air there, I had no idea what they were until I started watching the Transformers movies. My husband was more than happy to share his knowledge of Transformers with me. So, the truth is that we actually got these DVDs for him to review and not for our little girl. My husband told me that there have been many different series over the years and as a young boy, he thought they were awesome. He also commented that in retrospect, he thought the the figures tied in with the shows really well. My husband actually owns a lot of Transformer figures and toys (shhhh, don't tell anyone, lol). *Cough* I mean, my husband bought these for our kids, they are just not allow to play with them, that's all. In any case, we got the season 1 DVD set of Transformers Beast Wars to review. My husband watched the shows as a kid so it was entertaining for him to watch the episodes again -- except this time around, he is watching them with his daughter and wife. The series starts a bit slow, but what I like is that each episode is a stand alone episode (in other words, each one has a completed plot/story line). The transformers look really cool. DD is definitely intrigued by their transformations -- so much so that she has asked me if our neighbor's cat could turn into a giant robot as well, lol. DD's favorite episode is the "Double Dinobot." The story line is basically Dinobot defecting from the Predacons early and joining the Maximals. I am not sure how much DD understands, but she does think that Dinobot looks cool and watching this DVD series with the family has been great. There is nothing like hanging out in bed and watching these fun episodes on a Sunday night :).
If you or your spouse is a Transformers fan, I would recommend picking up this DVD set. It's great to watch these episodes again and enjoy them with your family. The DVD set was released on June 7th. Please check your local stores where DVDs are sold or visit ShoutFactoryStore.com.
