Dyson DC25 Vacuum Review

DD has allergies, she has been on medication for more than 3 years now. We hope that one day she will outgrow it all (accordingly to the specialist she has been seeing there is a possible of that happening), in the mean time, we just need to make sure her environment is best suited for her. I tried to keep our home as clean as possible and I do clean regularly. But, I had no idea how dirty my carpet was until we received the Dyson DC25 to review. I actually cleaned the carpet with our old vacuum, and then ran dyson DC25 over the same area. You should have seen the dirt and dust that got picked up by the DC25 vacuum. It is pretty scary considering that I have always thought that I was cleaning the house, but instead, apparently I was only pushing the dirt and dust around with my old vacuum. Wow!

DD was equally impressed by dyson. She thought it look pretty and she wanted to play with it too.

Check out the icky stuff my awesome new DC25 picked up.

Did you know that May Is Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month? The purpose of Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month is to get the word out that asthma, though an incurable, chronic disease, is controllable. People with asthma can lead healthy, productive lives. There are many things people can do to help control the affects of asthma, and Dyson vacuums can play an important role in asthma and allergy prevention in the home. In fact, Dyson full size vacuums are certified asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America.

Ok, now that you have heard all about my view of DC25, here's DH's take on it (in his own words).

The Dyson DC25 is amazing.

I'll admit I was skeptical. The price. The plastic construction. The various features all of which together sounded almost too good to be true.

But after pulling it out of the box, putting it together (three easy steps; mere minutes), and giving it a try... wow.

It's a good height, even without an adjustable handle. I'm 6'5" and my wife is 5'4" and we can both use it comfortably.

It's light, especially for the suction power it has. Relatively quiet, too.

It handled our carpet, our travertine tiles, and our hardwood flooring very well and with equal ease; a button-press switches between carpet and hard floor modes.

The maneuverability on the ball is insane. If the vacuum fits somewhere, it'll glide right in without banging against furniture legs and baseboards or you having to lift or shove the thing.

And if it doesn't? It has the best hose and wand system of any upright I've used. Instead of a separate hose unit slung along the body, it's all integrated into the upright handle and released via simple button latches and tugging; no stooping over or wrestling tubes out of slots. It's got a decent amount of hose and a surprisingly long wand for getting behind things or at high cobwebs. The wand even has its own comfortable handle so you're not just gripping a buzzing vacuum tube for longer jobs, like cleaning the stairs.

It's easy to empty and clean. I've had bagless vacuums before, but the DC25's system is not only cake to use, but you simply pop out and wash the filters every three months instead of having to purchase new ones.

Oh, and the brush bar! For me, the worst part of vacuuming is flipping the thing over every week or two and busting out a screwdriver, forcing snaps, or tugging on rubber pulley systems to clean who knows how many feet of long wife and daughter hair out of the thing. With the DC25, the whole brush bar can slide out for a quick clean before you lock it right back into place. Nice!

I love its engineering. Serious thought has gone into convenience, even tiny details like the size and shape of the foot pedal, the easy-to-reach power and floor mode buttons, the three-in-two attachments, and so on.

If I had to nit-pick? I wish it had a wider head attachment for use on the stairs, especially since the the base unit itself isn't so effective on them. It'll do the job, and do it well, but it takes longer than it needs to.

I'm also unable to address durability concerns. It seems rock solid now, but I've no idea if it'll still be doing the same great job five years from now.

Other than that, the DC25 handles every complaint I've ever had about other vacuums.

Long story short: The Dyson DC25 rocks. I couldn't figure out how a home vacuum could be so expensive. -Now- I get it. If you're in a position to afford the DC25, I'd say it's worth the price without hesitation.

We love our Dyson DC25 vacuum and we think you will too! To buy your own, please go to Dyson website. The one we received to review retails for $499.99.
