New bedding for DD

I brought some really cute fabrics from Tall Mouse during our last visit there. I had been wanting to make her a new set of bedding, but I haven't been able to find one I like (without buying it online), so I was glad to find this nice retro print in the store. On Sunday, I made the pillow case and the comforter cover for her (as well as a summer blanket, not pictured here). In the afternoon, I washed her new bedding so it was all ready for her that night. She was really happy with her new bedding.

See how happy she is!

Busy Saturday

On Saturday morning, I took DD to have breakfast with the Easter Bunny at the local mall. She was very excited while we waited in line to see the Easter Bunny. But this was her first reaction as soon as she got on the bunny's lap. Luckily, knowing her past history, I was totally expecting this to happen. LOL!

I asked DD to pull her hands down and this was the best photo I could get. *sigh*

Eating the breakfast... Well, at least she loved the food.

After breakfast, we picked up daddy and went to Lowe's. As always, they had a great time.

New dolls for DD's dollhouse

After a very trying playdate this morning, I took DD to store to get some toys (big thanks to Jenni for buying her the gift card for DD's birthday). We had a blast running around the store and checking everything out. We finally settled on this cute set of wooden dolls. DD was especially excited about the horses in the package. We opened it up as soon as we got home and played with them right away. It was a lot of fun watching her playing it with her toys.

What I worked on tonight

I brought these 2 outfits for DD. I purposely brought plain shirts and use my new awesome embroidery machine to put mermaids and fish on them. DH thought the the sayings are goofy, but I thought they are cute. I mean, the sayings on little kids' shirts should be goofy and cute right? :P

Park playdate

On Sunday, we met up with Jessica for lunch. After lunch, Jessica and I decided to take the kids to the park to play for awhile. The kids had a blast! I love that DD plays so well with Meimei and James.

Goals for today

I spent a couple of hours sorting out DD's closet. I gathered up 1 bag of clothes she outgrew and gave them to Debra today. There's more clothes I need to sort out, but because the weather is so unstable, I can't give her winter clothes away just yet.

I am also going to Toys R Us this afternoon to pick up Leila's birthday gift (she is turning 4). I already made part of her birthday gift (I am not posting photos here because I don't want to give anything away). I know what I am going to buy for her to add to her birthday gift bag, so I am going to head there with DD this afternoon to pick it up ^_^.

My other goal for today is actually looking for some nice chicken or rooster embroidery designs for my mother in law. I would like to make her something nice for her birthday (coming up in a few months-- I know, I like to plan ahead). I usually look for free designs that I can download onto my embroidery machine memory card, but if I can find some nice ones, I will be willing to pay for them. Wish me luck!

Disneyland fun

Since I am on spring break this week, I decided to take DD to Disneyland. Of course, we had to work around her preschool and playdate schedule too, so we picked Friday as the day for a full day of fun at Disneyland. We got up at 8 o'clock and left the house at 9 to be at Disneyland. The place was packed (that's the last time I go on a Friday). As soon as we got there, DD insisted that she wanted to go on the Star War's ride. Even though I thought the line was too long for us to wait, DD didn't care. Actually, she has a lot of patience when it comes to waiting for Disneyland rides. After running around all morning check out the different rides, we had lunch, and then we headed to Plaza Inn for a Mickey & Minnie Birthday Party. I heard about the birthday party from Nikki. The last time she was there with a large group of moms of kids, we could not make it because I had to work, so we ended up doing that today.

The birthday party was about $16 per person. I thought it was too expensive, but DD had so much fun that made it worth it (she had so much fun that after we got home, she told me that she had a fun time at Disneyland). In these photos, you can see how happy she was. I am glad that we are able to afford these type of things that bring her so much joy.

Dollhouse

I put DD's dollhouse together yesterday afternoon. It took me a couple of hours to do it, but DD's happy smile made it totally worth it. I left it on the coffee table to wait for the wood glue to dry, DD just could not wait to play with it, so I told her that she could play with the pieces if she likes.

My name is Princess

I got DD dressed in the morning (last Monday), she was dancing around with her skirt. I said to her, "You are mommy's pretty girl." She replied to me, "No, I am not a girl. I am a princess." I was laughing so hard.

Later in the afternoon, we were at the post office picking up a package my best friend Yalee sent to me. While we were waiting in line, DD was running around, so I said to her, "DD, you need to clam down and sit while we wait." A woman who was waiting next to us said to DD, "DD, that's your name? How pretty!." In response, DD said, "No! My name is princess." ROFL!

St. Patricks' Day Playdate photos

On Wednesday, we went over to Debra's house for a playdate. DD was having a blast catching bubbles with a net. So cute!

On Wednesday night, I made some towels for DH's sister. She was born on a tax day and we are going to celebrate her birthday on Easter Sunday, so I thought I was get a head start on her birthday present.

We love oranges

Last Tuesday we met Jessica for lunch after I picked DD up from preschool. We went to our favorite buffet place in Newport Beach. DD ate lots of healthy and yummy food (which made me very happy). She was so cute when she ate her oranges, I took these pictures of her.

Depression Era Cooking-- good for you and your pocketbook

I love this old lady. There are several videos of her cooking on youtube. Besides cooking the yummy food (which are simple and easy), she tells stories about growing up in the depression era.

I like her videos. She is a very sweet old lady, and her receipes are easy to follow, simple and cheap to make. I made the eggs with pepper for dinner one night (made my own bread to go with it, using my own receipe), and it turned out great. DH was shocked by how simple the meal looked but how tasty it was. DD ate her plate clean.

Here's the video. The only thing I did differently was that I used red and orange peppers instead of green peppers.

Lowe's Build & Grow

On Saturday, we did our usual thing of visiting Lowe's for their Build & Grow project. It was supposed to be basket ball hoop (a desktop one for the kids), but they changed it the last minute to tic tac toe.

Daddy helping DD to build the frame for the tic tac toe box.

Hammering is fun :).

They are so cute when they work together.

After they were done, DD used the sandpaper to take all of the rough stuff off her box.

And then she blew the dust away. So cute!

The tic tac toe box came with all of the little pieces. DD really likes her box and she plays with it for a long time. In the end, I think the tic tac toe box probably worked out better than the basketball hoop.

Busy week

After DD's birthday party last weekend, we have been super busy. I have been working most of the week trying to get all of our paper works for tax filing. I finally finished everything up on Thursday (after spending 5 hours on Thursday alone). On Friday, I dropped the paperwork off for our tax person in San Deigo while we visited the grandparents in Carlsbad. Anyhow, here's some photos of a few things we did this week.

On Wednesday, after DD's doctor appointment, we went grocery shopping at the Chinese supermarket. While we were there, we stopped by the Chinese bakery of course. I got some blackforest cake for us and gave DD a slice. She was loving her cake!

On Thursday night, after preparing the tax paperwork, I made these handprints & footprints for DD's room. The last time we had her prints done, she was 1 year old. Instead of getting it done professionally, I made these myself. I am pretty happy with the way they turned out :).

On Friday, after meeting up with our tax person, we went to visit the grandparents. Grandma was out having lunch with her sister, so we had lunch with grandpa. Here's a photo of DD and her grandpa.

They really enjoyed their soup :).

She is huge!

I took DD in for her 3rd year check up. The doctor said that her height (41") is at the 98 percentile for her age. She weights 34.5 lbs, which is at 85 percentile.

I knew she was tall for her age, but I had no idea she would continue to be so big. Her doctor thinks that she is going to be 5'11 when she grows up. That is a whole 7 inches taller than me... Wow!

Fun day at Disneyland

I took DD to Disneyland today. We had our new croc shoes on (way more comfortable than my payless shoes, I have to say).
We went to see Mickey. DD was in heaven. She was so excited when Mickey gave her a hug.
Outside of Mickey's house there was a Mickey Mouse shaped mailbox, and she was excited about that too.
Perhaps the most exciting part of our trip was that she is finally tall enough to ride that Star Wars Ride. Yes, it is true! She actually met the 40" requirement. She is 41 inches tall! She loved the ride even though she had no idea what Star Wars is all about.

Because tomorrow is her birthday, I brought her some Mickey Mouse lollipops when we went to Disneyland. DD was sooooo excited about it. She told me that she had fun at Disneyland and she thank me for buying her candy. What a sweetie pie!

DD's 3rd birthday party

Even though DD is not officially turning 3 until Tuesday, we had her birthday party today! We reserved the seats at the park (paid fees to the city) and had the party there.

One of the things I did was setting up stations on the table. One of the stations is the "Craft Station" where the kids get to color and paint.

There was also a "Cookie Decorating Station." As you can imagine, that was a huge hit with the kids.
DD spent a lot of time running around the park with DH. She had a blast going up and down the slide.

She painted, of course.

Then, she thought it would be fun to paint herself. It was her birthday party, so she could do whatever she wanted.
I also had a tattoo station, so the kids got to put tattoos on.
DD decorating her cookie.
After all that fun, we had lunch. We served DD's favorite food, of course.
After lunch, there was more playing.
This is what the party area looks like.
Check out how happy she is with her cupcake. It took me a couple of hours to make it for her, but seeing the smile on her face made it totally worth it!
I made regular size cupcakes for the kids.
DD working on her cupcake. In case you are wondering, yes, the cupcake is bigger than DD's head. ROFL!
A spoon full of icing. Yummy!
She worked really hard on her cupcake. She did pretty well with it.
It was a great party. DD had a blast and I think the other kids had fun too. After we came home, we took a 3 hour long nap and then she got to open her gifts. She loved everything she received!
