THe Grocery Game... IT WORKS!

My mom was a coupon clipper, and so was DH's mom. I think my mom stopped once we own a nicer house and my dad made more money. We stopped getting the paper and my mom was over the coupon clipping thing. My mother in law... well... let's just say that they never have to worry about money, so coupon clipping is a thing of the past.

I did some coupon clipping myself when I was in college. But really, saving a few cents here and there just wasn't that exciting to me. I had more important things to do... You know, like hanging out with my friends and watching TV. LOL!

When I started working, I had more money so I was not even thinking about coupon clipping. Besides, we did not subscribe to any newspapers.

Fast forward to now. DD is here and she costs a lot of money. It's amazing a little tiny girl can demand so much emotionally, physically and financially.

So, I started clipping coupons to save a few bucks. The way I see is that every penny I saved was every penny I could use to buy pretty ribbons and fabric and make cute things for DD. Then I was talking to my friend Irene and she told me about how they recycle bottles and cans and the money they get back goes to her DD's saving's account. I thought, "What a great idea! I should do that too." Don't get me wrong, I do recycle. But I put them all in the recycling trash can and the city take them away each week. Anyhow, after listening to her story, I began saving the bottle and cans for DD's saving's account (which is a very hungry piggie right now because she is only earning 2 pennies each month from interests, rofl).

When I started recycling for DD's saving's account, I realized that I could do more to save money. It's not just about saving a few pennies here and there, it's about saving for the long run. We would love to be able to help her with her college education, her first car and her wedding. So, then I became a coupon clipping machine!

Another friend mentioned the Grocery Game to me. I read about it before but I was not too trilled about paying for a service that tells me how to use coupons. However, when I checked the website a couple of nights ago, they are running a special where you can try out their service for 4 weeks for $1. I thought," Why not?! The worst that could happened is that I would lose a dollar." Ok, that's one spool of ribbon I can buy, but I can live with that. LOL!

Anyhow, I clipped my coupons from the Sunday paper this morning. With the instructions I printed out from the Grocery Game website, I went to the grocery store before DD woke up. The result.....

I saved $72.24 on $100.77 dollars worth grocery, everything I brought is something we would use, no wasted money here ^_^. So, my total balance after club card savings and coupon savings was $28.53. Ok, that's 70% savings!

I am soooo amazed on how well the Grocery Game works, I can't believe I did not try this sooner!
